Watercolor Painting
Bring in some beautiful sunshine to your Spring days! Watercolor is a translucent medium that sinks into the fiber of a sheet of paper, releasing the light from the surface. Watercolor dries fast, enabling one to work quickly with freshness and spontaneity. Explore the fundamentals of watercolor painting, with an emphasis on exploration and personal expression. Students will work from observation investigating subjects ranging from botanical to landscape. Weather permitting we will venture outside to paint our beautiful lake!

Drawing for Absolute Beginners
This class is designed to help you overcome your fear of “I don’t know how to draw at all” syndrome. Everyone knows how to draw, they know how to doodle when they are on the phone, and they know how to scratch on a piece of paper with a pen or pencil. They also know how to write. This is part of what is called “Mark Making”. So everyone knows how to draw, they just don’t know WHAT TO LOOK FOR WHEN THEY ARE MAKING THOSE MARKS.
I am here to help you see, to focus your attention on what to capture and teach you the tricks of illusion that will help you put 3 dimensional objects on a flat piece of paper to trick the viewer into believing that they are seeing a real object. So have no fear, there is nothing else to it!
Required materials for the FIRST class: 18 x 24 inch rough newsprint pad, willow charcoal, soft cloth or chamois, kneaded eraser Mechanical pencil, 2B,4B,6B pencils and a 16x20 drawing pad. Materials will be discussed in class so if there is something you bought that isn’t right, keep your receipt.
