3:30 PM - 6:00 PM    High School Sailing - High School Sailing
Join the Sharon Recreation Department for fall high school sailing.  Participants must have prior sailing experience and be able to skipper a 420 sailboat around a race course.  The program seeks to build basic sailing and boathandling skills and to develop knowledge and skills for racing – both fleet and team racing.  Our time will be split between on land instruction, skill building drills, fleet racing and team racing.Participants must bring their own water shoes, gloves, sunglasses and clothing appropriate for the conditions.  (wetsuit or drysuit in October).  Participants are encouraged to bring their own helmets and life jackets, but they will be provided if necessary.  The program will begin on Tuesday Sept. 8 and end Thursday October 29. We meet the first 4 school days of each week.  3:30 – 6:00. Due to high demand, this program serves Sharon residents first.  If spaces remains after Sept 4 non-residents will be accepted.  Min. participants – 25   Max. participants - 32.The program will observe the state’s regulations for recreational boating in phase 3 of re-opening.  Masks must be worn at all times when less than 6 feet from another person.  Others protocols to reduce potential contact between people will be implemented.

9:30 AM - 10:30 AM    Yoga Flow - Yoga Flow - October 30th
This class is designed for beginners through intermediate students. In Flow/Vinyasa yoga, you will be guided through postures in a Vinyasa style, beginning with the basic poses but allowing for more challenging poses based on your practice  level. Students will focus on linking conscious breath with a mindful flow. In a flow class, students awaken their strength, energy, concentration, and flexibility while calming the mind. This is a great class for students who are new to yoga or those who need a change of pace, yet still have the option to take it to the next level.  FALL 2020 DROP-IN SESSIONS: November 6th, 13th, 20th. Registration is done on a PER CLASS basis and must be done in advance. Registration closes at 4:00pm the day before the class. Class during the Fall session will take place outdoors on the Community Center front lawn when weather permits. All participants must bring their own mat remain socially distanced at all times. Participants must bring a face covering to wear when necessary during times when the group first arrives and before/after setup of the yoga mats. In the event of inclement weather for outdoor yoga, please check our website and e-mail notifications for cancellations. CLASS WILL BE MOVED TO A ZOOM SESSION IN THE EVENT OF INCLEMENT/COLD WEATHER. TUESDAY ZOOM SESSIONS: Enjoy the benefits of yoga from the comfort of your own home with this new Tuesday morning session of Zoom Yoga Flow! Class will meet weekly on Tuesday mornings through Zoom (link will be provided each week ahead of the class). If you would like to participate but cannot make it for the session, you can still register and the instructor can send you the recording of class. Classes instructed by Heidi Kassner.    **Please bring a yoga mat and two yoga blocks**

1:45 PM - 3:15 PM    Flag Football Skills & Drills - Flag Football Skills & Drills: GR 6-8 Session 4 (Oct. 31st)
This program focuses on developing flag football fundamentals and skills in an instructional/practice environment. Each week we will run through a variety of skills and drills including route running, throwing, catching, lateral quickness, backpeddling, and overall conditioning. Each week we will go through a team warmup routine to help players learn the importance of team building and preparation. We will occasionally mix in drills such as the 40 yard dash and 3-cone drill that can be seen in the NFL Combine to add some fun competition to the drills. The skills & drills will slightly vary from week to week but some repetition should be expected. This is an instructional/developmental program that will focus on fundamentals and drill work. Games/scrimmages will not be played as part of the program. We hope to hold our traditional flag football program with games in the Spring of 2021. Players should bring a face covering, mouth guard, and water to each session. Cleats or sneakers are recommended (no steel/metal cleats please). Football gloves are encouraged but not required. Equipment used in the program will be sanitized before and after each session. Registration is on a PER WEEK basis to avoid potential cancellations associated with a season-long session. Masks will be required for ALL participants, including during play. Social distancing will be emphasized when possible. We encourage that only one parent/guardian attend each session per participant. Masks are mandatory when spectating the program and parents/guardians are asked to observe social distancing. Group sizes are limited in compliance with COVID-19 guidelines. Instructed by Recreation Dept staff.
